Started last Monday, 23 May, this year’s FTTH International Conference was held in Vienna and the leadership of MRK Group Italia could not miss it.
For the first time since the Covid pandemic, the Conference was back in attendance with 20 expert workshops, 19 conference sessions and 6 keynote speeches presented by technical and regulatory experts from FTTH Council Europe member and non-member companies, as well as senior government and industry representatives, technology specialists, engineers, policy makers and investors. The main purpose of the conference was to share an in-depth knowledge of FTTH and other end-to-end fibre technologies and solutions, as well as to present the current situation of the market in Europe.
The panel devoted to the Italian market confirmed familiar themes, including the ongoing discussions at shareholder level on the advisability of a Fibercop/OpenFiber merger (with a concrete agreement far from being realised) and difficulties in finding enough skilled labour. Our comment in this regard: should there be more incentives for companies in the sector to invest in size and professionalism?
Representing MRK Group Italia, our manager Roberto Ragni went to Vienna with the aim of consolidating its already active collaboration with OpenFiber by offering a constantly updated and cutting-edge planning service, and to expand its contacts with other design studios, suppliers and customers in the Italian and foreign context.
